Cadets get new Delta
rescue boat for waterbourne
safety...
After
many months without a boat and having to loan boats
from other people the unit has finally purchased
is own Delta 5.5 rib. The boat which will be ideal
of sea training as well as inland lakes and resovoirs
has all the right kit for a rescue boat, VHF Radio,
GPS for Naviation, Plotter, Depth Sounder and a
couple of good engines.
Unfortunatley we were unsuccessful in getting a
grant for a brand new boat, but this one certainly
will do the job and give us what we need forthe
new boating season.
Pictures of the boat can be found in the photo gallery

What
a fanstatic job by the cadets and staff at the unit
this weekend. BZ
Having been invited to Asda in Ashton on Saturday
and Sainsburys in Denton on Sunday the cadets and
staff turned out in force to pack the locals shopping.
Everybody worked really hard and collected £1048
on each of the days at the stores and then ventured
out on Saturday night for a pub crawl and managed
to come back with £715, thats
a grand weekend total of £2811.
Well done and thank you to everybody who collected
on behalf of the unit this weekend everybody did
a great job.
Also a big thank you to both Asda and Sainsburys
for allowing us to fund raise in their stores. In
addition to this Asda have invited us back for a
couple of evenings before christmas to allow us
to add to our total fund raising efforts for December.

Cadets advance from
Ordinary to Able Cadet...
Congratulations
goes to Ordinary Cadets Charlottel Saycell and Connor
Lobb, who for the last few months have been working
hard to ensure they know their task book back to
front. Charlotte who did really well scoring the
highest marks at 93.5% on the test, last night commented
'I have been keen to advance for the last month
or so'. Both Cadets knew their stuff and deserved
to be advanced and will now have to act as more

Picture featured in December Navy News...
In
this months Navy News there is a special Trafalgar
200 pull out feature which documents the Battle
of Trafalagar and all of the years special celebrations
such as IFOS, T200 etc and has plenty of pictures
the events of the past year.
Taking pride of place in the centre pages of this
feature is a picture of and reference to the Tameside
Sea Cadets display team who went to London
for the end show for Trafalgar 200.
If you want to keep hold of a piece of history and
view the Trafalgar - The Immortal Memory pull out
go along to the careers office or go online to the
Navy
News or try in WHSmiths who generally stock
a few copies..

Cadets continue the
trend with excellent turn out to raise money...
Lots
of cadets turned out to help raise funds at Morrisons
in Hyde last night, Unfortunatley we didnt have
a full weekend, but we did have keen volunteers
and about 3 hours to spare. Overall the cadets and
staff managed to do themselves proud and raise just
over £425.
BZ (Well done) to everybody who turned out the continous
efforts and the staff team is much appreciated by
the unit. Also a big thanks goes to Morrisons and
its staff for enabling us to take this opportunity
to raise funds.
On another note - all of you who dont subscribe
to the units news and updates, we will be doing
a draw of all email addresses registered on our
system by the Christmas party and the lucky cadet
will receive a £15 voucher. So whats to lose,
have a chance at winning and find out about the

Awards
for All help keeps Cadets afloat...
Following
our grant success last year in raising £13,000
to extend the galley and fit it out with a state
of the art kitchen, we applied again this year for
a further £5,000 to extend and update our
sailing fleet.
This year we have got rid of our bosuns, updated
our fleet with a couple of Pico's and a Laser Vago,
we intend to obtain another two Picos through various
means in order to bring our fleet up to four.
We still have toppers but we are hopping to sell
them and get newer boats along with a rescue boat
very soon.
So a big thank you to all those involved in claiming
this grant, the £5,000 will be put to very
good use.
