Cadets and staff pack
their bags for the weekend...
No
dont worry, nobodys leaving home for a life at sea.
The cadets and staff of Tameside Sea Cadets were
invited by Morrisions in Denton to help pack customers
shopping this weekend, Morrisions very kindly gave
the unit two days in the store this Saturday and
Sunday and in return for the cadets and staff help
packing bags the population of Denton were very
generous and gave to the sea cadets cause.
The staff of the new stores in Denton looked after
the units staff and cadets over the weekend, we
really appreicate the opportunity that we were given
to raise much needed funds, in total over the weekend
we managed to raise just over £2100.
This added to the rest of the fundraising this month
makes it one of the best months for the unit for
quite some time.
'We have a number of expensive items to raises money
for over the coming months so this effort will bring
us ever closer' said John Mottram, training and
pr officer at the unit 'we also would like to take
this opportunity to thank Morrisions at Denton for
supporting our sea cadets and all our staff and
cadets who assisted, without them it would not have
been possible' added John.

Cadets
raise money for unit and Parade on Remembrance Sunday...
The
cadets and staff of Tameside Sea Cadets got together
this weekend, 27 cadets and staff stayed onboard
overnight and ventured out in the Tameside towns
to raise much needed funds for the unit. Overall
the cadets managed to raise just over £680,
so thank you to all those cadets and staff for their
help.
On Sunday, the majority of the ships company
staff and cadets set off for Ashton Town
hall to join the other cadet forces and many others
to parade in Remembrance of those who served in
our forces as well as those still serving.
Well done to all the cadets on parade, the unit
was well represented and everybody looked very smart.
After the parade the cadets mustered at the unit
for a few pictures and all the cadets attending
had their picture taken.
If you want to purchase images from the gallery
but cannot buy or view them online then just contact
the training officer and he can place orders manually.

Royal British Legion
give thanks to Cadets for their time...
The Festival of Remembrance is an annual event to
honour those who have paid the ultimate sacrifice
in the service of their country. The Festival comprises
a service of Remembrance and an observance of the
Two Minute Silence. It is also an opportunity to
think about the Service men and women around the
world who are putting their lives at risk protecting
our peace and freedom today.
But for many Armistice
Day is still the main time to remember. Today Able
Cadet Karla Lowe and Cassie Matley went along to
Staylbridge war memorial at the Requst of the Royal
British Legion. The girls dressed in best uniform
observed the two minute silence along with Ex Servicemen,
Councillors and local people from Staylbridge.
The ships company of TS Quantock in Ashton under
Lyne will be taking part in Sundays Rememberance
parade in Ashton this weekend, something that the
unit feels is important for old and young to be
involved in.
Peter Downs of the Staylbridge Royal British Legion
conveyed his thanks and appreciation to the girls.
Involving young people in rememberance is something
the legion promotes. He goes on to say "Karla
and Sallie were a credit to the unit and sea cadets.

Tameside
welcomes its first Petty Officer Cadet for a few
years...
Congratulations to Petty Officer Cadet Anthony Cooper,
having spent last week at HMS Excellent in Portsmouth
on his PO Cadet board, Anthony came away having
passed for Petty Officer Cadet.
Anthony came to the unit having previously reached
leading cadet in another unit so we are very pleased
that he has achieved his final advancement as a
cadet.
He can now wear his gold badges on his best uniform
and can take pride in achieving the highest rank
a cadet under 18 years of age can achieve in the
Sea Cadets.

the cadets 6 points towards advancement.
Please dont leave this till the last minute, either
complete a course request form and pass it to the
