Tameside Unit hosts 50 cadets for one of the
Area Physical Training weekends.
The
unit was taken over this weekend by the Area
PT team and nearly 50 wannabe Physical Training
Cadets. Some cadets were on their first aptitude
weekend and others were on their second weekend.
If you pass both weekends then you would qualify
for a 3rd Class PT specialisation badge.
The next course for those who want to either
try the aptitude or if passed go for their
3rd class is on the weekend of the 19th May.
Applications with a £10 deposit to the
Training Officer as places will be limited
on this occasion. First come first served.
Cadets Charlote Saycell,
Laura Handley, Nathan Halton
and Chris Taylor all completed
their second weekend and are now qualified
PT cadets and able to wear the badge.
Cadets Hannah Parker and
Karla Lowe passed their first
weekend aptitude course and can now go for
their 3rd class. Some cadets were not quite
old enough as you have to be 14 to get the
qualification.
Well done to everybody who took part
on the weekend and thanks to all the staff.

Cadets take part
in the Royal Naval Parade...
North
West Area Officer, Commander Brough RN
visited the unit for his annual Royal Naval Parade.
Parents, friends and visitors attended to see
the cadets in action. The cadets started the parade
by an being inspected and talked to by the Area
Officer, for many of the cadets this was a first
so quite a few were a little bit nervous, in any
case they held their nerve and all did a great
job - nobody went over, everybody tried there
best and impressed the Area Officer.
The Area Officer then inspected the unit/classrooms
and talked to the staff positivley commenting
on the static displays. The cadets then put into
practice their evolution (Task) going on an expedition.
The final part of the evening saw the window ladder
display team perform the trafalgar display they
did for the public in London last October.
Well done to everybody at the unit, thank you
to all the parents and friends for supporting
the unit and cadets. The commanding officer was
very pleased with how it all went.

Cadets do a
good job fund raising...
Over the past couple
of weekends the cadets have been attending
the unit to take part in the Inspection and
General training. Whilst at the unit the cadets
went out fund raising as is usual once or
twice per month and manage to raise over both
weekends around £900.
Over the first weekend, four Marine Cadets
went out only and raised nearly £400
themselves, so well done and thank you to
all those cadets that assisted over the weekends
as well as thanks to the staff for their assistance
in the cadet training..
