Radio
Communications
In all the Armed Forces, radio communication is
essential to keep in touch. Learning to communicate
by radio is excellent grounding for any cadets hoping
to embark on a career in the Armed Forces. Radio
communication training will, of course, enhance
a cadet’s general communication skills, which
are highly transferable and a valuable asset in
any form of employment. You can choose to get involved
in any one, two or even all three of these exciting
areas:
Tactical

• Ship-to-Ship Communications
• Flag Hoists –Nelson’s signals
and their modern equivalents
• Morse by Flashing Light – secure,
directional, indispensable
• Tactical Voice Nets – the way the
Navy does it in action
• Manoeuvring Operations
Signalling
• Audible Morse Code
• Semaphore
• Acknowledgement of Radio Amateur qualifications
General
• Short, Medium and Long Range Voice Operations
– on- and off-air
• Modern Data Communications
• Technical radio training including the amazing
world of aerials
• Computer-to-radio linking
• Live Field Events
