Welcome
to Tameside Sea Cadets. I do hope you enjoy browsing
through our pages.
The Sea Cadets is a recognised charity supported
by the ministry of defence, Royal Navy but run mainly
on the funds that we raise ourselves. Our patron
is Her Majesty the Queen. Our aim is to make better
individuals and citizens of our young people by
providing challenging and interesting activities
in a controlled and safe environment.
Although we aim to challenge our cadets, the highest
priority is given to their
safety
and
welfare by ensuring that all
our activities are amply supervised and organised.
Our sailing and canoeing activities are organised
under the auspice of the
RYA (Royal
Yachting Association) and the
BCU
(British Canoe Union). For other activities we seek
guidance from the highest controlling body available.
You can rest assured that when in our care all cadets
are in safe hands.
Here at T.S (Training Ship) Quantock we believe
the cadet corps should be about
meeting
new friends, taking part in outdoor activities
(many being water based),
learning new skills
and being a
better more organised person
for having taken part. The activities on offer include
sailing in Toppers, Bosuns,
Team
Rowing, outdoor adventure training,
Duke
of Edinburgh Awards (many of which are
water based) 5 A Side football,
swimming,
BSAC Scuba Diving,
communications,
marine engineering
and many more.
Much of what you will learn with Tameside Sea Cadets
will be away from home, we have our own training
centres, many of which are situated on Royal Naval
bases. These centres have specialist staff to teach
even more advanced skills and provide an even bigger
range of activities. These extra activities can
include things such as Power boating (inshore and
offshore) and Windsurfing. As you become familiar
with water, you may want to explore the opportunities
to go to Sea as the Sea Cadets own a number of Sea
going craft, one of them is our own tall ship, the
three masted T.S Royalist.
So.... No need to sigh, I have nearly finished,
but seriously if any of the above or what you read
about the Sea cadets sounds interesting or challenging
to you, then why not come along for an informal
chat? You will meet existing cadets and staff, make
new friends and learn new skills which will be useful
in the future what ever you may do.
We are
located behind Asda on Lower
Wharf St, Ashton Under Lyne and we parade between
7.15pm & 9.15pm on Tuesday and Thursday.
So either visit, telephone on 0161 308 4252 or email
us at info@tsquantock.com.
If you don't want to come alone then why not bring
a friend ?
That's all from me, thank you for taking the time
to read this and please enjoy the rest of our site
which is updated on a regular basis so put us in
your favourites list and come back soon.
Regards
Graham
