CADETS PERFORM AT NAVY DAYS 2009
In September 2009 the Royal Navy opened the gates
of the Devonport Naval Base in Plymouth to allow
members of the public to go on board a huge range
of Her Majesty's ships. The Navy Days are a rare
chance to get up close to some of the most sophisticated
warships in the world as well as watching air displays
and events on the water.
The Units display Window Ladder Display team was
one of central attractions aboard RFA Mounts Bay.
The Cadets made several performances each day.
The Ladder a 12 metres Height structure was erected
on the main flight deck of the Ship, which in itself
towered over 10.5 metres above the key side, was
visible from all around the dockyard.
The team which involved 4 Staff and 9 Cadets was
well received by the public as they performed several
faultless performances over the weekend.
The Tameside Sea Cadets formed in 1943 and today
has a membership of around 80 boys and girls aged
between 10 and 18. They meet at Lower Wharf Street
in Ashton on Tuesday and Thursday nights, and enjoy
a wide range of team activities including sailing
and canoeing as well as learning seamanship and
